Rationale

Far more needs to be done to achieve global warming levels below 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030

Asia's forests are more than just carbon repositories.

Habitats for a rich diversity of fauna and flora

Forests serve as vital habitats for countless of plants and animals, playing a crucial role in safeguarding biodiversity

Livelihoods for millions living in poverty

Forest resources supply food, fuel, and other necessities to vulnerable communities, supporting their livelihoods and enabling local economic activities

Asian Tropical Forests

Lose 38 million ha

Asian tropical forests saw a 15% decline, far surpassing the global average of 4%.

Asia, in particular, has some of the worst rural poverty problems and is experiencing rapid tropical deforestation and desertification

Nature-based and forest-based solutions are one of the most cost-effective ways to achieve decarbonization objectives where public-private actions are needed
